Get set! A change is gonna come, and it’s gonna be ushered in by the most assertive of artists - those whose intrinsic thirst for fresh perspectives and the purest articulation of self ensures positive progress and proactivity. Clash 110 is defined by four icons of rectitude that bravely value clarity and growth (creative and otherwise) over any personal challenges they may encounter in the process.
The first of this issue’s unrelenting cover stars is the viscerally emotive R&B star, 6LACK. More than just the product of the Atlanta streets on which he was raised, 6LACK is their emotional conscience that aspires to temper the city’s tough exterior.
“East Atlanta is a place that has layers,” he tells Clash. “The layers aren’t always broadcast because when there’s one thing that’s popular, one thing that’s consistent, that becomes the face. But East Atlanta, it has different sides of town. A lot of the stuff that these people rap about - whether it be street life, drug life - all of it comes with pain, all of it comes with emotion, all of it comes with turmoil in relationships. I focus on these things and that’s my job, to be that therapist.”
Meditating on life while 4000 miles from his hometown, 6LACK opens up to Clash about the importance of originality, self-improvement, and relatability in an incredibly intimate and inspiring interview.
Also featured in this issue is Neneh Cherry, Saba, Calpurnia, Swizz Beatz, Rico Nasty, Saweetie, Roger Daltrey, and much more.
