That group’s quest was to impact the rap community with positive ambition, to evolve the genre by pushing creative boundaries, and to inspire all those who followed them to step up their game. “The world is recognising how great we are,” he tells Clash. “In the beginning it was hard because everyone was taking our flow and wasn’t giving us credit. Now everybody knows that’s our flow, and we’re here to stay.”

Armed now with a potent solo album that’s set to fully establish him as the outfit’s MVP, Quavo meets Clash to discuss the challenges of reframing rap, selling out Madison Square Garden, and the hoop dreams that see him jumping ever higher to achieve them.
